What's the advantage of the vehicle assembly plant?
1) save customs duty, this is the most important factor, usually, in most of the countries, the customs duty rate for the KD parts (knocked down auto parts) is much less than the rate for the complete vehicle, the government wants to protect or develop their own industry, for example, in Nigeria, the tax rate on CBU (complete vehicle) is 35%, while only 5% for SKD, and zero percentage for CKD, this is a very good policy;
2) save other taxes in your country for assembling such a vehicle in KD parts instead of importing the complete vehicle, for example, to exempt the VAT for 10 years at least in some countries, etc.;
3) save shipping cost, for promote this automobile Assembly Project to the world, it can save the shipping cost, why? To take this small passenger car as an exampl, with CBU term (complete built unit), one 40HQ container can only load 4 units, but with KD parts, in bulk with large quantities, 6-10 units on average can be loaded in a 40HQ container.
4) Earn your own Intangible Assets: with the automobile assembly project, you can develop and have your own auto brand and logo, and you can also enlarge your markets to your neighboring countries by making use the preferencial tariff policies among your communities.
How to start the plant?
First let me explain what is CBU, SKD, CKD?
CKD = Completely Knocked down parts . All materials supplied loose for final welding and final assembly, or raw body shell and all other parts loose and not assembled.
SKD I = Semi knocked down parts. Car body and trucks cabin are unpainted. The engine, gearbox, axles, suspension, driveshaft, steering, seats, tyres, batteries, exhaust system, electrical,
etc. are supplied as individual units for assembly.
SKD II = Car body is fully painted and glazed. Truck cabin is fully painted. The engine, gearbox, axles, suspension, driveshaft, steering, seats, tyres, batteries, exhaust system, electrical, etc. are supplied as individual units for assembly. (SKD-II term may as start phase, it is just need a little equipment(USD20000) to accomplish assembly moke.)
The plants starts to assemble minimoke in SKD I(semi-knocked down) term. It costs about 30000 usd for general assembling line, 40000 usd for paint lines and other tools.
The body shell finish weld and undercoat in China. The engine parts, chassis parts, electric wires, accessaries are seperated. They are loaded in container.
When skd parts is arriving in Seychelles, it is easy to finish general assembly process and put moke in market.
In second step it can invest for CKD equipment of welding line.
What is cooperation way we have?
At first stage of SKD II, we cooperate in turnkey way. When it develops to CKD, it is available to cooperate in joint venture by technology investment.
