SELF-TAPPING SCREW THREADED INSERTS
Screw thread insert is a connecting part with its own internal and external general screw thread, including "key-locking" and "self-tapping".
Self-threading inserts are inserts having both an external and internal thread and two slots which provide cutting edges much the same as a tap.
When driven into a cored or drilled hole, the insert cuts its own thread cleanly and evenly. Friction between the insert and the plastic permanently holds it in place after installation. No special tooling is required.
Self-threading inserts can be installed with a tap wrench or with a drill press and tapping head.
Self-tapping threaded inserts for making high-strength, wear-free, vibration resistant screw connections in materials with low shear strength such as aluminium and aluminium alloys, brass, bronze, cast iron, duro and thermoplastics.
The threaded inserts are tapered at the bottom and have a cutting slot. By screwing in they cut their own threads inside a receiver hole. This guarantees a completely secure and firm anchoring in the host material.
Internal thread D1 acc. to ISO 6H.
The threaded inserts with cutting slot spring slightly inwards in the slot region in some materials. This results in a screw locking effect. If this is not desired, we recommend the threaded inserts with a cutting bore.

InstallationInstall the self-tapping to the special tool and then drive the tool into pre-cutting hole after one round. After making sure the tool to be vertical with the surface of workpiece, drive the insert which is installed to the tool into hole forcibly. When the surface of the self-tapping insert is under the workpiece surface about 0.2mm, stop driving and extracting the tool from hole in the opposite direction.
Step 1Tighten nut against insert. Bolt should not extend beyond end of insert.
Step 2
Turn bolt head to thread insert into hole. Alignment is important while threading.
