Structure feature The main actuators of NPE are gas discharge tubes or air-gap discharge. Under normal circumstances, the inter-electrode shows a high resistance state, when the grid occurs surge due to the direct and indirect lightning or other transient over voltage, inter-electrode will breaker over in the nanosecond time so that brings the surge into the ground from the grid, thereby protecting the electrical equipment on the grid.
