As the predecessor of CIMC Vehicles (Shandong) Co., Ltd, Jinan Vehicles Refitting Factory established in 1958 was one of the earliest companies for special vehicles with the long development history and abundant strength. Tanker Truck has been a mature product of Shandong CIMC and has more than 30 years' production experience. At the beginning of 1980s, Shandong CIMC had been the fixed manufacturing enterprise.

On the basis of importing, absorbing German Koegel technology, Shandong CIMC has created and developed the technology of all closed sandwich panels with "wet-wet" method, fiber glass box as green environment-protection body, swap body, etc. Many products and technologies have gained the country's patent. In 2003 Shandong CIMC entered the market of refitting tippers, and then it has established a strategy cooperation with CNHTC, Volvo, ShanQi, FAW, DFM and so on. Tippers produced by Shandong CIMC have been exported to Russia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, etc. In 2006 the company carried out reforming production-line to build the first-class Dump truck refitting production-line, painting-line and technological equipment in China.
