L-Cystine is found in 1810 by Wollaston from bladder calculi. In 1832, Berzelius named cystine, it is a kind of sulfur-containing amino acids, there are a few in the protein, more contained in the keratin hair, fingers, etc.

Characteristics: Hexagonal tabular crystal or white crystalline powder. Odourless and tasteless. Soluble in dilute acid and alkaline solution, very slightly soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, ethyl ether, benzene and chloroform.
