Adjustments to the alloying element content of aluminum alloy are offen carried out by the addition of an alloyed aluminum mater alloy. Master alloys are usually of eutectic composition to provide the minimum temperature. This involves the customer in the expense of buying and stocking aluminum.
Additive tablets are added to the melt at the appropriate time in the correct quantities to give the required alloy content. The tablets are self sinking to release the powder evenly into the melt. Complete solution occurs faster than when using master alloys.
