As production in agriculture and the amount of acres increase, the amount of time spent harvesting crops becomes more important every year. Grain carts have been around for many years, making harvest more efficient. Like other pieces of equipment, grain cart sizes have increased to meet the production demands of the farmer.
Demand for grain cart duals has come from two areas of concern from farmers - more flotation and straddling the rows. Many grain carts come equipped with a large single tire that runs in between the rows or on top of the row (depending on the size of the tire and the row spacing). With the tires running on the row, stubble damage decreases the life of the tire and can cause down time when the grain cart is needed the most. When the tire runs down the row, the corn stalk cannot be chopped, allowing the residue to be worked into the soil. Duals are the perfect solution to both those problems and also increase the amount of flotation, which will reduce soil compaction. Another advantage is that the duals can be made using tire sizes that are common, adding new life to the tires that are wore down on tractors and four-wheel drives.
