Beijing Automobile Works Co., Ltd (BAW) is one of the pioneers of the Chinese automobile industry, the origin and epitome of the automobile industry's development in Beijing over the last half century, and the truly representative brand of the nation.

Beijing Automobile Works was originally founded in 1958 as the second largest automobile factory in China, with its name inscribed by Mr. Zhu De, Chairman of the National People's Congress, In 2001, it evolved to become Beijing Automobile Works Co., Ltd. (BAW), a company based on a modern enterprise sustem. BAIC(Beijing Automobile Industry Company)signed the formal asset restructuring agreement in 2008, making BAW the fourth vehicle manufacture sub-division following these other 3; Beiqi Foton, Beijing Hyundai Motor Corporation(BHMC)and Beijing Benz-DaimlerChrysler(BBDC).

BAW has been manufacturing automobiles for 50 years, firmly entrenching itself as China's most reliable off-road auto-maker. While focusing on off-road vehicles, it also develops commercial vehicles and special vehicles to meet the demands of military users and domestic, as well as overseas civilian markets. With a sound contribution to national economic development and defense, it has become China's default supplier of military purpose vehicles and the backbone of its light off-road industry.

BAW, whose headquarters is in the Chaoyang District of Beijing, possesses two separate plants; One in Chaoyang District, and the other in Shunyi District. The overall capacity of the two plants is 100, 000 units per year. Its comprehensive distribution and service network covers the whole Chinese market, including all provinces, cities and municipalities.

BAW takes the lead in China when it comes to independent R&D and manufacturing. The fruits of this work comprise 3 series of products; Off-road vehicles including brands of Yongshi, Luba and Qishi, and forming types of heavy, middle, light; Trucks including brands of 1041, Qiling and Qilong, and covering varieties of 1-12 ton; Lingt-buses including Haice of the 3rd generation and the coming 4th generation.

BAW formulates the "3233" development strategy; 3-stage development, 2-core competencies of cost and quality, 3 series of products, and 3 operating mechanism. BAW will achieve the 200, 000 sales target in the next five years and realize a leap-forward development. BAW will soon become the independent brand base for Beijing automobile industry, the production base for passenger cars(domestic and export), military vehicles and new energy vehicles. These will cover a variety of products ranging from low to high grade passenger cars, mini-cars, off-road
Vehicles, light-duty buses and trucks. BAW will thus become one of the major automobile manufacturers and reinforce its position as the cradle of off-road vehicles.
