1 Description
Reference standards: GA173-2002(Signal)\ YD/T1235.1-2002(Power).
This Joint Box combines together the power surge protection & signal surge protection, applying metal outer case which has the features of easy connection, water proof, dust proof, corrosion proof, explosion proof, fire proof, electromagnetic shielding and appreciative outer looking. The power surge protector using series connection has the functions of large current flow capacity and low restricted voltage, etc. This protection box applies single phase series connection which is suitable for protection of load current less than 4A, AC 220V 50/60Hz in equipment. The signal protection section in the box includes 4 groups of signal SPDs which can be connected in series connection with 4 groups of communication lines and which can suppress inductive lightning wave caused on signal lines, so that the communication equipments can be protected from inductive lightning.
2 Ambient condition
Temp: -40~70Degrees Celsius; Relative humidity: ≤ 95%; Atmospheric pressure: 70kPa~106kPa.
3 Operation principle
When inductive lightning wave invades in power line or signal line, the surge protector assembly will act by Nano-second in low resistance state and discharge the lightning energy down to the ground, restricting the over voltage in a range which the equipments are able to withstand, so that the normal operation of equipment can be guaranteed.
4 Instruction:
1. Connecting master plate through U part to SPD box of PHS closely.
2. Conneting one end of the grounding line JB_PE1 of combined SPD box to fixing screw (grounding spare parts: 4mm2 yellow-green multi-string wire, two ends of which are tapped with nickel-plated copper end. ), and the other end is secured to the master plate with spare bolt.
3. Secure the non-copper end of grounding line JB_PE1 of combined SPD box through wire hole to PE terminal of SPD box, while the copper end of which is secured with spare bolt to the master plate.
4. When the power section of SPD box is operation well, the green light is on while the red light is off.
5. When wire connection is finished, use water-proof tape to pack the connecting points of SPD box.
6. When heavy lighting occurs, the protection part inside the power section of SPD box is in malfunction, it means the power section of SPD box can't be used any more. Replacement must be made at this time.
5. Installation, usage and maintenance
5.1 Fix the arrester in the suitable location, than open its cover, contact the line properly according to the label on the arrestor. Be sure the accurate connection sequence when connect the signal line. There are 4 pairs of lines (L1-L8) in the signal section of this arrester. Pay attention not to disorder the connection, otherwise the working condition of the communication equipment will be influenced or the communication will be interrupted. Contact the output port of the arrester to the protected equipment. Be sure not to reverse its order, otherwise the arrester will be damaged.
5.2 In order to ensure the best condition both in power part and signal part of the arrestor, the earthing resistance of the earthing point should be in accordance with the relative criterion. The section area of PE line (insulative wire with copper core ) must bigger than 6mm2 and the line of input and output must be in accordance with the requirement of environment.
5.3 Since in this arrester the power part, signal part and the equipotential bonding are combined together, so the additional signal PE line isn't needed. The power PE line is the common PE line, so it must be well connected to the grounding and the grounding resistance should be less than 10Ω .
