Heat Treatment:
Ultrasonic test: According to SEP 1921-84
Soft Annealing: Heat to 650-700oC, cool slowly. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 248.
Hardening: Harden from a temperature of 870-930oC followed by oil/polymer or water quenching.
Tempering: Tempering temperature: 580-700oC.
Forging: Hot forming temperature: 1050-850oC.
Applications:
1.8509 Nitriding Steel is suited for applications that required excellent resistance to wear and abrasion. Typical applications include connecting rods, small extruders, valve stems, dies. It is widely used in the automotive, textile and general engineering industries. Suitable for applications requiring a resistance to wear, it is also suitable for other applications such as brick press plates, clutch plates, gudgeon, track and shackle pins.
