Direct Expansion Corn Snack Processing line/Making machine For the production of direct expanded puff corn snack to be sweet or salty coated Mixing Unit The flours are mixed and automatically conveyed into the extruder. Extrusion Unit The high-friction extruder cooks the dough that expands directly out of the die (where it is cut) because of high extrusion pressure. Conditioning Unit The product is conveyed to the first conditioning unit and through an indirect heat exchange (drum drying or drying on belts) the moisture content is reduced and the product is ready for the sweet or salty coating. Flavour Mixing Unit This unit is used for the preparation of oils and flavours mixtures as well as sweet syrups to be conveyed to the flavouring drum. The product can be salt coated, or coated with chocolate or other sweet syrups. The system is made of two tanks: the first is used to prepare the syrup or emulsion, the second is for storage. A pump conveys the syrup or emulsion to the coating drum. Coating The product is sprayed with syrup or emulsion into a drum which is reclining for cleaning operation. The drum speed is variable to change residence time. Drying The coated product is conveyed to a dryer (drum-dryer or belt-dryer) to reduce moisture and for crystallization. Cooling The product is cooled for stabilization.
