Dysprosium (Dy), atomic number 66 and atomic weight 162.5, is a member of the rare earth metal family.
Metal dysprosium has a silvery white color and is flexible. The melting point of metal dysprosium is 1412 degree centigrade. Its boiling point is 2562 degree centigrade. Density of metal Dysprosium is 8.55 g/cm3.
Dysprosium can be used mainly:
1. As an additive for ND-Fe-B permanent magnet material;
2. As activation material for fluorescence powder;
3. In Tb-Dy-Fe Alloy for ultra-magnetic retractile material;
4. For production of Dysprosium Lamp;
5. In Dy3Al5O12 alloy for magnet working material in magnetic refrigeration.
