Kolortek Pigments are equivalent to Merck's Iriodin Pigments.
Kolortek natural mica based pearl pgments are very equivalent to Merck's Iriodin pigments, are the classic effect pigment. They refine coatings for interior and exterior applications. In doing so, they create unique luster and color effects which otherwise only occur in nature from silver-white, red and bronze-colored earth tones and interference to gold luster. The effect varies from silky smooth to glittery, depending on the particle size distribution. The interplay between transparency, refraction and multiple reflection determines the enormous variety of effects.

Made of mica platelets coated with titanium dioxide, Kolortek pigments are free of solvents and heavy metals.
The Kolortek 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 6000, 7000, 8000, and 90000 series include grades coated with titanium dioxide crystals in either anatase or rutile form; Grades containing rutile crystals tend to have higher luster, coverage and whiteness, while grades containing anatase crystals are free of tin. Surface-treated Kolortek pigments are available to prevent yellowing in plastics applications.
Kolortek Pearl pigments for exterior use are engineered using Kolortek's proprietary CFS chrome-free surface treatment to improve humidity and adhesion resistance in water-borne coatings and chip resistance in solvent-borne coatings. This makes it ideal for automotive coating applications and other outdoor uses, such as on lawn and garden furniture and outdoor appliances.
