Hero's Engine
A visual demonstration of the work potential of steam! The apparatus is based on the principles used in a steam-driven toy designed by Hero of Alexandria in150 BC. The flask is partially filled with water and is suspended over a burner. When the water boils, it will cause the flask to rotate rapidly. Steam escaping from the pipes also illustrates the action-reaction principle. Consists of chains with a swivel, a 250-ml flask, and a stopper. Instructions provided.
