Production Method: Usually manufactured by a fermentation process using Corynebacterium glutamicum
Charateristics: Stable. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. L-Lysine: Needles from water, hexagonal plates from dil alc. Darkens at 210° ; Decomp 224.5° . Very freely sol in water; Very sligtly sol in alc; Practically insol in ether.
Usage: Feed additive, pharm grade. Essential amino acid for human development. Lysine residues are useful in many cellular processes, due to their ability to accept a wide variety of post-translational modifications.
