Properties: Colorless crystal with slight sour and foul odor; M. P. 238ºC; easily soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol; the pH value of its aqueous solution is less than 7; in the dry air, it won decompose; in moist air it will absorb moisture and then give off hydrogen fluoride; there will be hydrogen fluoride frothing over when heated to 310ºC and when the temperature reaching 400ºC, the vapour pressure of hydrogen fluoride will be 101325MPa(1ATM); toxic.
Uses: Used as dielectric for making pure potassium fluoride and elemental fluorine; also used for making optical glass; it can be used as the welding fluxing agent for silver products and the catalyst for sulfoization of benzene, etc...
