General information:
Ring main unit (RMU) acts as a crucial piece of equipment in smart grids.As its temperature electric cable connector (ECC) is one of the most important parameters of the whole power system, the ECC is prone to damages when the RMU is operating
Thus, the ECC's performance and longevity not only depends on the composition of the connector's material, but more importantly, depends on manufacturing technology and load capacity
Since any of the second options would cause overheating of the ECC inside the RMU and if these conditions go undetected, the RMU would experience rising current loads, increased temperature readings at the connectors, potential break downs, or catastrophic failure of the whole RMU
Temperature real-time monitoring system in order to prevent the above-mentioned dilemmas from occurring
Opt sensor discovered that pouring temperature-sensing inserts inside the insulation plug of the cable would give real-time hot spot temperature readings to the cooper core inside the insulation plug
By developing an insulation plug with an optical fiber port located outside of the cable insulation, the optical fiber cable connects easily and quickly with the transmitter to monitor the temperature while accurately recording real-time data and potential hazards
