A pair of photoelectric sensors are installed under the bilateral hand straps of escalator entrance , with the diffuse reflection function, (infrared ray sent out by emitter dash against passenger, the ray are blocked and reflected, then received by receiver) they can detect the passenger near to the entrance of escalator and give operating instruction to escalator which arrives the desired energy-saving effect , that is, escalator operates when passenger come near to entrance while escalator brings to rest if there is no user.
