How does it work?
Sunlight is absorbed by a solar panel. When this happens the solar energy knocks electrons loose from their atoms, as they flow through the material they produce electricity. When the sun stops shining on the solar panel, the electrons stop flowing which will stop electrictity being produced.
Clock will still run at night
Because we've attached a rechargeble battery to the solar panel. The electricity generated from the panel will charge this during the day, then the stored electricity in the battery can be used at the night when there is no sunshine!
