BPG 9336SPIRAL WOUND GASKET TECHNOLOGYMetallic strips with a special profile and a soft filler material are wound together in a special process. The metal strip acts as a spring and the filler creates a seal when compressed. Usually Spiral Wound Gaskets are supplied with an inner and/or outer metal ring. The outer metallic guide ring is usually made of carbon steel which is color coated or galvanized depending on customer request. The sealing element (strip and filler) can be made out of a wide range of materials. The materials are selected depending on operating conditions. The inner ring is usually made out of the same metal as the strip of the sealing element. It is recommended to use an inner ring.
