Paraben has stronger anti-bacterial properties than benzoic acid, sorbic acid because of its phenolic hydroxyl structure.
It is white crystalline powder or colorless crystals, it is easily soluble in alcohol, ether and acetone, very slightly soluble in water, the boiling point is 270-280 ºC. It is a kind of powder colored milky white to brown, odorless and tasteless, it's very easy to absorb moisture and block. It's a class of non-ionic surfactants which is a combination of sucrose and fatty acid. It's edible and harmless to human health with excellent biodegradability can. It is a highly effective emulsion stabilizer.
Application:
It is mainly used as antiseptic in organic synthesis, food, cosmetics and medicine, it is also used as preservative of animal feed.
