Heat treatment
Hardness :Annealed(+A) max: 235 BHN
Tool steel H42 when heat-treatment the preheat Temperature need reach 788°C, and the temperature may be ± 14 °C .
Tool steel H42 when austenitizing ,should keep 5-15 minutes long. If is the salt bath ,temperature should keep in the 1191 °C , and shall be ± 5.6 °C. Or is the controlled atmosphere furnaces , temperature should keep in the 1204 °C , and shall be ± 5.6 °C.
Quenching: Tool steel H42 Hardening quenching using air cooling, and it's hardness min is 60 RC.
Tempering: Tool steel H42 general tempering temperature is 552°C. Double tempering of Double tempering of tool steel H42 is recommended.
Application:
H42 tool steel like high speed steel with high hardness and high intensity, and it has a higher toughness and fatigue strength than high speed steel. It is commonly used to make cold extrusion dies and stretching die, it has a longer service life.
