Twisted rope is usually 3-strand construction. Manyends of yarn or filaments are twisted together into a single strand. Then three strands are twisted together with an opposite twist to form the finished rope. 4-strand and 2-strands ropes are constructed similarly. Twisted rope is usually stronger than braided cord of the same size because its fibers are paralled to each other all times.
