Product Description
Characteristice: A high molecular weight, partially hydrolyzed vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate resin, made in a two-step process, having a composition of approximately 90 percent vinyl chloride, 4 percent vinyl acetate, 6 percent vinyl alcohol, with a hydroxyl content of approximately 2.3 percent. VAH has excellent adhesion on PET, resin primer, paper, PVC, ABS, pre-treatment of PE and OPP. VAH has good compatibility with other film-forming material, such as alkyd resins, polyurethane elastomers, isocyanate resin, melamine resin, urea-formaldehyde, epoxy polymers and so on. So VAH often used with other film-forming material in order to improve the coating performance, and enhance paint adhesion, flexibility, tenacity, hardness and chemical resistance. The hydroxyl functional group permits crosslinking reactions for thermoset, obtaining excellent chemical and water resistance.
Solubility: VAH can be dissolved in relatively strong solvent/diluent combinations, such as 50 percent ketone/50 percent aromatic hydrocarbon, to produce resin solutions of 22-25 percent solids. Ketone is a particularly good solvent, and esters is the relatively weak solvent. Chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dichloroethane and 1, 2 - dichloroethane can completely dissolve VAH, and methyl chloroform and tetrachloroethane can only swell it. Aromatic hydrocarbons have a good role in the swelling, generally using with ketone.
Application: VAH can be used for a wide range of coatings applications, including marine anti-corrosion paint, gravenu ink, chassis paints, maintenance, PU and wood finishes, paper coatings, PET inks, interbedded adhesive, adhesive for magnetic tape and carbon ribbon.
