The withdrawal and straightening unit consists of two sections. The first is the withdrawal, closest to the cooling chamber, and the second is the straightening, prior to the intermediate roller table.Picture 001 show typical arrangement of The withdrawal and straightening unit
Water-cooled W/S unit with roller geometry by continuous straightening curve can avoid possible deformation or crack caused by straightening in case of liquid core. Soft reduction is applied for pressing the mush zone to avoid any possible center segregation & porosity
The withdrawal section is used for the insertion or extraction of the rigid/flexable dummy bar and extraction of the cast strand.
heavy withdrawal section which is provided with one upper and one lower roll, up roll driven by AC motors,lower roll is idle roll .The upper withdrawal roll motor is provided with an incorporated holding brake, some time both roll are driven by AC motors up to caster layout reuirement. for example,when restranding ,the dummy bar reach the mould,if two points hold the dummy bar ,both roll driven by AC motors; if three point hold the dummy bar ,only one roll driven by AC motor in the module.such withdrawal and straightening are main used for big bloom soft reduction.
typical five roll withdrawal and straightening unit,The upper rolls of the withdrawal and straightening unit can be raised and lowered and are called rocker arms. The rocker arms are controlled hydraulically into their up/down positions.The speed of the AC motors for the withdrawal rolls is controlled by frequency converters.
