The 5300 is an advanced, digital modem that provides reliable high-speed data transfer using standard HF radio equipment. It comes with its own software program for sending point-to-point data messages. It can also be used in conjunction with Group's DTS-Gateway network software for data transmission, message storage and forwarding, as well as many other networking functions.
The 5300 modem protocol uses advanced DSP techniques to reduce errors and is capable of delivering error-corrected and uncompressed data over an HF channel at rates up to 2000 bits per second.
The 5300 uses ARQ protocol which does not require data to be repeated if it is received correctly. A two-level ARQ format automatically adjusts its time frame to match the data volume being sent. Data may flow in either direction at any time, reducing overhead and improving the efficiency of ARQ operation.
A robust modulation format is used immediately after linking and for slow speed communications such as "chat" mode. When a large volume of data is to be sent, the higher speed format is used.
