MTRJ stands for Mechanical Transfer Registered Jack. The MTRJ connector is a small form-factor fiber optic connector which resembles the RJ45. The MTRJ connector was designed by AMP, but was later standardized as FOCIS 12 (Fiber Optic Connector Intermateability Standards) in EIA/TIA-604-12.
MTRJ connector descriptions:
The MTRJ Fiber Connector comes from the MT connector, it is well suited for high density applications. It is a duplex connector with both fibers in a single polymer ferrule. It uses pins for alignment and has male and female versions.
The MTRJ connector has an improved version of RJ-45 type plug. This latching mechanism ensure easy to use. MTRJ adapter with approximately same space as a simplex SC adapter.
MTRJ fiber connectors include the single mode types and multimode types, MTRJ use a plastic ferrule instead of ceramic, and there is no APC MTRJ connectors.
