Definition of impeller: it's a critical component of centrifugal pump, it's made of a number of camber blades. Its function is to transfer mechanical energy of prime motor directly to liquid in order to boost static pressure and dynamic pressure of the liquid. Impeller is energy supplying device.
Category: its mechanical structure can be divided into closed type, semi-closed type and opened type. Closed impeller is suitable for transporting clean liquid, due to its high efficiency, it's usually used with multistage centrifugal pump; Semi-closed impeller is suitable for transporting precipitated materials or granular materials, its efficiency is lower than closed impeller; Opened impeller is suitable for transporting materials that contained much suspended matter, its efficiency is rather low, so is the pressure of transporting liquid. Its imbibition style can be divided into sing suction and double suction. Structure of single suction is simple, liquid is only sucked from one side; Structure of double suction is relatively complicated, liquid is sucked from both side, it has big capacity of imbibition. Blade shapes can be divide into backward-curved, radial direction and forward curved, due to backward-curved blades can acquire high static pressure, centrifugal pump often use backward curved blade.
