Improved lac flake as coatings for environmentally friendly woodwork and furniture.
Improved or modified lac flake dissolved in ethanol and becomes a brown semi-translucent liquid; It can be used as lac varnishes. This varnish dries quickly after brushing, leaving a thin layer of lac film, which has a terrific electrical insulation and hardness; Furthermore, it glazes brightly after polishing.
Currently, red lac varnish produced with traditional method has many problems in performance: First, due to not de-waxing or incomplete de-waxing, red lac can form a non-soluble solid that clogs the sprinkle nozzle, resulting in mal-function of machine spraying; Second, lac flake produced by traditional method has many contaminants and a poor purity, insoluble solids can cause bad leveling and inadequate fullness of the paint; Additionally, non de-colored flakes make the paint monotonous in color, and this cannot meet the needs of different users; Third, if red lac flakes is not modified, the paint would have a poor heat-resistance, and the resistance point to dry-heat is only 55-65 º C, lower than 75-100 º C of the synthetic coating, and its film is brittle, poorly adopted to temperature and climate, thus, ultimately it becomes limited in the field of eco-friendly coating.
In order to further explore the market of deep processed red lac, and to meet the demand of customers in eco-friendly coating industry, our research team had to solve the technical and manufacturing problems in de-waxing and bleaching of high-purity red lac, and in poor heat-resistance of red lac varnishes. After many years of persistent endeavor and unremitting effort, our R&D team has developed the techniques of "low temperature de-waxing and purification", as well as "red lac alcohol-soluble copolymers graft modification". Thus realized the mass-production of woodwork varnishes using red lac flakes, significantly improved the toughness, heat-resistance and weather-resistance of lac varnish film. Comparing to traditional flakes, the performance of the new product is much superior.
