Refined, Bleached & Dewaxed Shellac Powder

Lac is a wholly natural product secreted by a tiny insect: The Lac insect (Laccifer lacca Kerr), a parasite of certain species of trees.
Lac can be found almost all over the world but only under certain climatic conditions is its economic exploitation possible.
The main growing area for the Lac are the Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and W. Bengal states in India, the Shan State in Myanmar, the North of Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, the South of China and in Indonesia.
The "Sticklac", the name of the secretion when on the twigs, is harvested by local farmers one or twice a year.
The Sticklac, brought to local manufacturers is then refined by a washing process which removes the gross of impurities: Wood, earth, stones, dead insects. The result is called Seedlac.
The Seedlac is then brought to our factory for the most delicate operations of removing the color, the wax and the tiny impurities to obtain the final product, Anning Decco's light yellow Shellac
