Product Description
Thallium doped sodium iodide crystal is the most widely used scintillation material,it has the greatest light output and convenient emission range coincident with maximum efficiency region of photo multiplier(PMT).
Basic information of NaI tl scintillator
Growth method: Bridgman
Dimension(maximum): diameter 100mm x 300mm length(cylinder), 100mm x 100mm x 200mm(rectangular)
Available items: crystal blank and encapsulated
Production of NaI tl scintillator
The single sodium iodide crystal was produced in EPIC Crystal by using the Bridgman method, from which series of cylindrical and rectangular crystal blank in various dimensions range were grown, then can be manufactured into the target sizes from clients. NaI tl scintillator is hygroscopic and has to be encapsulated for applications.
Currently EPIC has three encapsulated choices based on the applied environment included the regular aluminum housing, K-9 glass at temperature range from -20 to 100 degree C, and stainless steel, quartz glass which can be survived up to 175 degree C with special spring, while Titanium housing and sapphire window, not only for high temperature resistance, but the heavy shock and vibration conditions in the harsh environment like Measurement While Drilling(MWD).
Main applications of NaI tl scintillator
The NaI tl Crystal is a traditional scintillation material, which has wide application since it was developed, like nuclear radiation monitoring, isotopes identification, radiometric density/level measurement, nuclear medicine, oil well logging and geological exploration.
